He was born October 17, 1939 in Clear Fork, West Virginia. On that sunny day with the leaves changing, his father killed six squirrels. Ronald enjoyed fishing, hunting, square dance calling, and spending time with his grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp (Cpl. E-4) and worked for MSHA for 32 years and a police officer in Charleston, WV. He retired from MSHA as an assistant district manager. He was a member of the local moose lodge for 18 years.
In June 2005, Mr. Dunbar received a lung transplant. He is very grateful of the donor which allowed him to enjoy 10 more years of life.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Dunbar.
Those left to cherish is memory include daughters, Angela Lowther and husband Tony of Beckley, Casey Atkins and husband Russell of Daniels; sister, Phyliss Burgess and husband Sebert of Clear Fork; grandsons, James Meador, Glen Meador, Jr., Connor Atkins and Noah Atkins; granddaughters, Destiny Westberry, Madison Lowther, and Laura Lowe and husband Josh.
Friends may gather with the family Monday, March 21, 2016 from 12-1 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
Services will be held 1pm, Monday, March 21, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Arlette Stover and Pastor Jerry Lawrence officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
