Roger Dean Fraley, 94 of Dorothy, WV graduated to his Heavenly Home after a long battle of dementia. Roger was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Robert O. and Ackey Lois Dean-Fraley. He and his family moved to Dorothy, WV when he was 3. He is the last surviving member of seven siblings. His parents opened Fraley’s Grocer: late 1930’s/ early 1940’s, and Roger delivered groceries to many homes.
Roger married his sweetheart, Kathleen, March 3, 1951. From this union came 3 children: Robert Dean, Roger Dwight, and Kathleen Denese. Roger attended Colcord Presbyterian Church faithfully, as he often thanked God for how his life was blessed. He was a member of the UMWA, District 17. A coal-miner working for Princess Dorothy, Truex-Trayer, OgleBay-Norton, and Bethlehem Steel, working inside the mines, and also outside as a heavy duty equipment operator; retiring in 1983. Owner of Fraley Trucking, Fraley Excavating, and R Dean’s Trucking to continue his love for coal and operating heavy duty equipment. He loved the mountains and taking out of state family members on “tour” in the mountains and mining roads. Dad raised a garden every year at his Mother’s property along with his sons. He enjoyed sharing the crops with family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen of 62 years; brothers, Randolph (Georgia), Ishmael (Margie),and Dariel (Josephine); sisters, Madge (Sam) Robinson, Wilma (Marvin) Saunders, and Margaret Lois (Clyde) Young; son, Robert Dean; grandson, Kenneth Wayne; nephews, Sammy Gayle, David, Paul Jr., Wayne, Randy, and D.L.; nieces, Marion Jeanette and Francis Jane.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Roger Dwight (Sherry) of Rock Creek, WV, and daughter, Kathleen Denese (Tim) of Brook Park, OH.; grandchildren: Jennifer (Tommy), Kelli (Matt), Roger (Pam), Adam(Amanda), Emily (Adam), and Audrey; step grandchildren: Kelly (Randy), and Matt (Angie); great grandchildren: Caleb, Kate, Blake, and Caroline; great step- grandchildren, Cole, Alexis, Tyler, Kaylee, Brayden, Logan, Layton, Charleigh, and Shawn.
Roger was known in the community for having a large garden and sharing with his family and neighbors. A hard worker, and a giving heart with needs of the church and the community.
A heartfelt thanks to Dad’s caregivers: Debbie, Kevin, Mitchell, Jimmy, Barbara, John, Hunter for their tireless efforts and care. Also his neighbors, James and Missy who were always on call.

Son, Roger Fraley; son-in-law, Tim Dillon; grandsons, Roger Fraley and Adam Fraley, nephew: Bobby Fraley, caregivers: John Austin and Hunter Breeden will serve as pallbearers.
Funeral Service will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Friday, June 19, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Friends may gather with the family on Thursday, June 18, 2020 from 6-9 pm.
Final resting place will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
