Robert Bowman Jr.

Robert "Bob" Bowman Jr., 79, of Beckley, WV, passed away surrounded by his family at CAMC General Hospital on October 20, 2017. Funeral Services will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, October 27th at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C Byrd Dr, Beckley, WV 25801. There will be a viewing for family and friends at 4 pm. Robert was born March 9, 1938, in Iroquois, WV, to Robert Bowman Sr. and Edith (Burchett) Bowman. He graduated from Sophia High School in 1956, where he was a member of the marching band and a member of the football team. On July 15, 1960, he married Linda Halstead. Robert worked as a mine foreman for West moreland Coal Company, and became general mine foreman at East Gulf during his employment. He enjoyed watching WVU football, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Robert is survived by his wife Linda, his daughter Tammy McLaughlin and her husband John of Jumping Branch, WV; his son Gary Bowman and his wife Sherri of Charlotte, NC; his son Greg Bowman of Lula, GA, and his son Brian Bowman of Beckley, WV; ten grandchildren: Robert, Jeffrey, Christopher, Josh, Allie, Mary Kate, Vincent, Adalyn, Makaylee, and Brenton; four great-grandchildren: Morgan, Mason, Paisley, and Sutton; brother Ronnie Wayne Bowman and his wife Judy of Charlotte, NC, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special thanks to the doctors and nursing staff of CAMC General Hospital, especially our father's palliative care nurse Gina Diddle. Her kindness and careful guidance will always be remembered by our family.
