Paula Jo Adkins, age 74, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley. Born on July 24, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Horace Sanford and Earvil Kirby Sanford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howard Sanford. Those left to cherish her memory is her husband of 54 years, James Adkins; daughters, Mona Goodwin and her husband, James, and Marsha Adkins; grandchildren, Alicia Goodwin, James Goodwin, Jr., Jeremy Goddard, Brittani Adkins, and Russell Beale, IV; great-grandchildren, Jason Goodwin, Trey Adkins and Brenden Campbell; sister, Joyce Sanford Edgeworth and husband, John; brothers, Tommie Sanford and his wife, Margaret, and Bobby Sanford and his wife, Vie; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Adkins loved going to her church. She was a longtime member of Sturgeon Branch Baptist Church in Danese, WV. She loved and cherished spending time with her family. She was the kindest person anyone would meet.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 am until 12:00 pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral home with Pastor Danny Clifton officiating. Burial will follow at Harrah Cemetery in Meadow Bridge, WV.
Pallbearers honoring Mrs. Adkins will be Jeremy Goddard, Wayne Adkins, Jamie Adkins, Jay Goodwin and James Goodwin.
