Nancy was a graduate of Oak Hill High School and obtained a secretarial degree from Beckley College.
Bill and Nancy moved to Beckley in 1953 and Nancy became the office manager for Bill’s State Farm Insurance Agency.
A Christian, Nancy was a member of the United Methodist Temple for 67 years where she served in many capacities including President of the United Methodist Women, circle leader, youth leader, teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and administration positions. Church and family were the joys of her life.
She and Bill believed that faith holds a family together when all else fails.
Nancy was very active in Girl Scouts taking her troops on many different camping trips as far away as Washington, DC. In the summer of 1965 she represented WV at the International Girl Scout Roundup in Idaho where she served as the head banker. Nancy was also involved with Bill in many civic activities.
Nancy’s hands were rarely still as she loved sewing, knitting, baking, canning and crafting. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren all have received blankets, afghans and clothing. Never a Christmas went by without her sharing shortbread with friends and family.
She was loving, generous and a joy to all who knew her and as one caregiver said, “She was a life changer.” She will be greatly missed.
