Mona Gaye Cook

Mona Gaye Cook, 64 of Mt. Hope, WV passed away in Mooresville, NC at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center on January 10, 2022. Born July 11, 1957, she is the daughter of Claude and Mildred Mullins Whitlow.

In addition to her parents, Mona is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashleigh Renee Cook; brothers, Arnold Whitlow, Danny Whitlow, Kerry Whitlow; sisters, Audrey Kaye Painter, Louise Jean Norris; brothers-in-law, William Fridley, Danny Cook, and Ronnie Dean Cook; also Kathy Hines who was like a sister to her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 47 ½ years, Denzil “Bo “Cook; son, Kenneth R. Cook; daughter, Kandi Cook; adopted children, Sidney, RaDawna, John, Daniel and Lucas; sisters-in-law, Susie Fridley, Linda Satterwhite, Brenda Stanley, Liz Vincent, Louise Price, Alice Quinto; brothers-in-law, Johnny Cook, Paul Cook, Arnold Cook, Roger Cook, Jerry Cook; brother, Jimmy Whitlow and wife, Cindy; sisters, Donna Suttle and husband, Jerry, Janice Brown, Tonia Arthur and Cindy Lambert; granddaughter, Alexandrea Thomas;, Maliyah Millie Cook and Denzil Xavier Cook; great-grandchild, Maddix Thomas

Mona had a Master’s Degree in Social Work, interdisciplinary Studies and Criminal Justice. She was a very educated woman that included several other degrees. She had been employed with KVC and FMRS. Mona loved reading her bible and was of the Church of God Faith. Mona was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved by everyone. Mona did everything she could to help everybody. She was everyone’s therapist.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Entombment will follow at the mausoleum at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Wednesday from 1 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
