Mary "Lena" Darnell

Lena was the daughter of Samuel Wade and Lula Stone Lovell. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by sons, Aaron C. Darnell and Delmar Thomas Darnell, Jr., grandson, Steven Darnell and brothers, Kermit, Dudley, Frank, and infant brother William Carlos Lovell.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Jennifer Lou Blankenship (Leonard) of Tampa, FL, Steven Dale Darnell (Diane) of Fairdale, WV and Larry Dean Darnell (Vickie) of Prosperity, WV; two daughters-in-law, Helen Darnell of Martinsburg, WV and Gloria Jean Darnell of MacArthur, WV; sisters, Betty Prillaman of Martinsville, VA; and Martha “Kitty” (Benny) McMillion of Chesterfield, VA; grandchildren, David Darnell, Daria Darnell, Timothy Darnell, Thomas “Tommy” Darnell, Tammy Engel, Michael Blankenship, Diana Chipley, Jeffrey Canterbury, Jennifer Harbert, and Holly Darnell; great-grandchildren, Hana Darnell, Caroline Darnell, Charlie Darnell, Brittany Burgess, Zachary Engel, Lily Blankenship, Averie and Remington Harbert.

Mary was disabled from Pinecrest Hospital after 12 years of service. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Beckley, WV. In her younger years she and her daughter, Jenny sang at local churches in the Sophia and surrounding areas.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 12-2 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be at held at 2 p.m. with Doctor Charles Bright officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in the Garden of the Good Shepherd.
