Mitchell L. Stover, 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior after a short illness on February 10, 2016 in his residence of The Maples Nursing Home in Bluefield. He received watchful and loving care from the staff during those five days. Mitchell was born December 10, 1951 in Artie, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Carlos Elbert Stover and Reda Faye Wriston Stover. He enjoyed drinking coffee, watching old comedies, Elvis Presley’s music, attending tent meetings as a child and as young man he frequently felt the presence of God. Our brother will be forever missed. He was a sweet spirit with a big smile and had a gentle and kind soul. He always valued his family and enjoyed every visit, every outing and all holiday dinners. Mitchell was always with concern and weekly inquired about his family, friends, his Sprague childhood friends and neighbors during life’s journey. He lived in his Rescare home from 2013-2016, where he received excellent one on one personal care on a 24 hour basis. They were compassionate and sensitive to every specific need. He was a resident at The Manors (Pineville, Mullens and Glen Rogers) Personal Care Home from 1986-2012 where he developed caring relationships with the staff and residents. Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Larry and wife Donna Stover; sisters, Sherry and husband Bobby Ball, and Connie and late husband Jerry Burgess; several nieces and nephews. Friends may gather with the family Monday, February 15, 2016 from 6pm – 8pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Services will be held 12pm, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with family and friends to serve as pallbearers with Pastor John Jordan and Pastor George Mandakunis will be officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralhome.com. Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, has the honor of serving the Stover family.
