Lawrence David Holdren, age 87, of Beckley, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born on September 20, 1932 in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late John Lawrence Holdren and Ethel Irene Gore Holdren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Austin and her husband, Elmer, and Ronnie Lee Dillard; and his brother, John R. Holdren. Those left to cherish David’s memory include his wife of over 38 years, Brenda Sanders Holdren; daughter, Dianna Mathis and her husband, Martin; son, David Holdren and his significant other, Casie Fondahn; grandson, Jason Hughes; great-grandson, Zachary Hughes; sister, Charlotte McKinney and her husband, Herbert; and several nieces and nephews.
David was a veteran of the United States Army. He loved classic Cadillac cars and “old style Country Music.” He enjoyed fishing, traveling and staying busy while “tinkering” with anything he could find, including lawnmowers.
A Memorial Service to celebrate David’s life will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 19, 2020 at Gentry Missionary Baptist Church, 1176 Meadow Fork School Rd., Oak Hill, WV.
