Lauren Nicole Floyd left behind her body of suffering for eternal joy in the presence of Jesus on February 15, 2023, at the age of 39.
Born on May 2, 1983, in Fort Lauderdale, FL, for Robert and Sharon Brody, her abundant zest for life was on display early and often. Every opportunity to learn and laugh was met with eager enthusiasm, and a strong will took root. From stories and songs, to Sunday School and children’s programs, Lauren grew to love God and love people. Her love for God blossomed as she developed a passion for music and a desire to share that passion in worship. And her love for people matured as she invested time in missions and ministry, traveling across the world, from Nicaragua to Russia, and studying God’s Word in Argentina.
Lauren was blessed with children early in life; she embraced the role of mother and worked fiercely to protect and provide for Emma and Jonny. God’s path for her life led to Virginia where she married Jim and began to build a family, then to West Virginia where together they built a home. She captured the opportunity to teach students to love God and enjoy Him through music, and she used her gift of hospitality to provide essential meals for the community and the people that she loved. Stubborn perseverance through difficulty led to a business opportunity and her new role as West Virginia’s Taco Lady, giving her the opportunity to share the love and light of Jesus with even more people. Her true concern for the complete well-being of those who shared her path meant that she never met a stranger and so many were blessed by her friendship.
Lauren’s family includes her beloved husband Jim; her children Emma and Jonny; her parents Bob and Sharon Brody; her brother (and sister-in-law) Chris and Kristen Brody, her nephews Steven and Erik, her niece Audrey; her Aunty Brenda; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her in-laws Henry and Rita Fitzgerald; her maternal grandparents Alfred and Norma Cedolia; and her paternal grandparents Robert and Agnes Brody.
Lauren’s family invites you to gather for a celebration of her life at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at the Cranberry Baptist Church, 201 Cranberry Drive in Beckley, WV. Greeting and refreshments will follow at the church.
