Kathleen Betty Black

Kathleen Betty Black, 85 of Lower Sandlick, passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014. Born May 11, 1929 at Sun, West Virginia- she was the daughter of the late Kelly Snuffer and Elsie Horch Snuffer Stover. Kathleen was primarily homemaker but worked several jobs in the Glen Daniel area including manager of the Video-Ville Glen Daniel Store. She attended Clear Fork High School and Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David N. Black, Sr.; daughter, Helen Ann Lester; grandson, David N. Black, III; brothers, Clifton Snuffer, Robert Snuffer, and Alfred Snuffer; sisters, Dorothy Snuffer, Marie Snuffer, and half sister, Joyce Stover; step-brother, Emerson Stover and step-sister, Georgina Stover. Kathleen is survived by her son, David N. Black, Jr.; half brother, Buster Stover; grandchildren, Claudette Eastridge, Ayla Black, Maison Black, Warren Bain and Anthony Johnson; Great grandchildren, David N. Black IV, Madison Black, and Taylor Eastridge. She was also very close to her niece, Gloria Foster Estep and her sister Mary Catherine Foster both of Charleston, WV with special recognition to her granddaughter-in-law, Robin Darby Black , who has helped so many of us get through this. Services to celebrate the life of Kathleen Black will be conducted at 1pm Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Gary Maynor officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens also in Beckley. Pallbearers will be Anthony Johnson, Warren Bain, James Eastridge, David N. Black, Jr., Greg Phillips, and Nicholas Moore. Friends may gather with the family from 11am until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
