
Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley WV Josiah (Joe) L. Lilly Josiah (Joe) L. Lilly 96, of Cool Ridge went home to be with the Lord on Friday May 9, 2014 at his residence following a long illness. Born March 25, 1918 in Lilly WV, he was the son of the late Elder Eli O. Lilly, and Cora Clark Lilly. Joe was a coal miner with over 29 years of service, retiring as a superintendant. He was baptized into the Primitive Baptist Faith. Joe enjoyed farming and working with his cattle, he loved helping his neighbors by putting up their hay. Joe also served on the board that governed the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a business owner in the late 50”s early 60’s. He was former post master in the Cool Ridge Post Office. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Mary Naomi Plumley Lilly: Three brothers, Ralph, Carlos, and Kenna Lilly; Five Sisters Lena Cox, Gladys Cox, Melinda Lane, Judith Lane, and Lola Mae Thompson. Those left to cherish his memory include: his two daughters Cora Lee Pack of Cool Ridge with whom he shared his home, Mary Jo Matherly of Beckley; one brother Kelso Lilly and his wife Thelma of Beckley; Four Grand children Toni McCall and her husband Curtis, Belinda Evans and her fiancé Gary Booth, Jeffery and Dale Pack. Seven Great Grandchildren, and three Great-Great Grandchildren. Special Friends Virginia Noel, Mary Ellen Morgan, and Lilly Ellison. And a host of nieces ,nephews, and many neighbors, and friends who gave us so much love and support during Joe’s illness. The Lilly Family would like to thank the many Nurses and staff of Amedisys of Beckley, and the nurses and staff of Hospice of Southern West Virginia, the staff and pharmacy of Dr. E.J. Salon; Frances Gilkerson, and a special nurse Pandi. Services celebrating the life of Joe Lilly will be held Monday May 12, 2014 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating. Following the service Joe will be laid to rest beside his loving wife, in the Mausoleum of Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley WV. Pallbearers will be Gary Booth, Arnyst Lilly, Tyler Evans, Dylan McCall, Robbie Lane, Matthew Matherly, and Cash McCall. Friends may gather with the family from 1:00pm until service time Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in Joe’s memory to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
