John William Brown

John W. Brown, 60 passed away July 19, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley. He entered into eternal life with Christ according to Scripture 2nd Corinthians 5:8 – We are confident and willing to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Born September 2, 1954 in Mount Hope, WV, he was the eldest son of the late Frank P and Valeria Figiel Brown. John was employed for 40 years with the U.S. Dept. of Labor MSHA, at the Mt. Hope office before retiring in March 2015 due to illness. John was a faithful member and servant of his church, Jordan Christian Fellowship in Sophia, WV. John enjoyed Bible Studies, traveling, bird watching and exploring nature. He had a keen sense of humor and wit. He was a devoted attentive husband and a friend of many. John was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Albert Lee Estep. Those left to cherish many sweet memories are his loving wife of 39 years, Cindy Estep Brown; sisters, Dorothy A. Porter of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Barbara (Robert) Bennett of Goldsboro, NC, and Regina Brown of Summersville, WV; brothers, Thomas E. Brown of Mount Hope, WV and Frank P. Brown, Jr. of Moncks Corner, SC; Theodosia Estep, mother-in-law; 3 nieces, 1 nephew, and 2 great nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Joseph Golden for his care and kindness during John’s illness. Special thanks also to caregivers, Patsy Parker, Joyce Hall , Bobbie Gravely, and Kay Alderman and Hospice nurses, CNAs, Liz, Erica, Katey, Sarah, Missy, Alyssa, Mandy and many other Hospice care providers. Thanks also to our Pastor, church family, brothers and sisters in Christ, friends, family neighbors, and co-workers. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastors, Tim Roberts and Craig Spooner. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family Wednesday from 1 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
