Jimmy Wayne Stone

Born on May 22, 1954, he was the son of the late Melvin Stone and Faye Stone. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother, Roger Stone.

Mr. Stone served in the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff from 1978 -2004. He retired at the rank of Lieutenant. He also served for 5 years in the United States Army as an MP with the 101st Airborne and served as a tanker with the 1/150 AR of the West Virginia Army National Guard. He retired from military service through the United States Army Reserve at the rank of Sergeant First Class and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Fayetteville, WV.

Jimmy was the first Litter Control Officer for the State of West Virginia, serving from 2004-2014 and pioneered the way as a certified law enforcement officer. During Jimmy’s tenure, Raleigh County’s Litter Control Program became the flagship for the State of West Virginia and has remained so today.

Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 20 years, Melinda Stone; a niece Jenny Holshouser; and a great niece, Mia Thompson.

He will be missed, but we know the Lord is getting a good man.

Services will be held at Blue Ridge Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Chaplain Mitchell “Skee” Barley officiating. Friends may visit at noon.

Pallbearers will be Kem Meadows, George Bragg, Austin Bragg, Sam Lilly, John Dunn and Luke Layne.
