Jimmie Lee Dunford “JD”, of Rhodell, WV, and currently residing in Beckley passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Raleigh General Hospital. Born on May 20, 1950 in Rhodell, WV, he was the son of the late Albert Dunford and Ruth Lillian Smith Dunford.
“JD” graduated from Stoco High School where he played basketball. He retired from AEP (American Electric Power) after 33 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force.
“JD” was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved and cherished spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his late parents, Ruth and Albert Dunford. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 49 years, Clarice “Sue” Dunford; his three daughters, Kimberly A. Boonyakiti and her husband, John of Charleston, SC, Crystal G. Bailes and her husband, Adam of Beckley, and Jennifer L. Dunford of Beckley; three grandchildren, Emily Altizer, Kevin Altizer and Aysha Boonyakiti; his special grand-dog, Zoya; one sister, Sharon Sturgill of Pounding Mill, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Hatcher and Gary Ford officiating. Special music will be held by Steve Ford. Burial with Military Honors will follow the service in the Garden of the Last Supper Annex of Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers honoring Mr. Dunford are Paul Sneed, Adam Bailes, John Boonyakiti, Steve Ford, Colson Ford, Joe Ford and Luke Ford.
In accordance with the current CDC guidelines, the family and the staff of Blue Ridge Funeral Home ask that those who attend the services wear proper facial coverings and practice social distancing at all times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Freewill Baptist Church, PO Box 118, MacArthur, WV 25873.
