Janice Faye Tassitino

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Janice Tassitino, our loving and devoted mother. She passed away peacefully at Hubbard Hospice House in South Charleston, WV, on August 12, 2020. She was born in Beckley, WV on November 10, 1938 to the late Ronald and Wanda Fitzgerald.

She was married to the love of her life, Fred Tassitino, for 64 years who proceeded her in death in 2017. Janice worked in the grocery business her entire career. First owning and running a store from the front of her home in Allen Town, WV and then working at Kroger as the non-foods manager until her retirement. Janice enjoyed spending time at the beach, particularly when her children were young and the family enjoyed many vacations there. Janice and Fred eventually retired to Myrtle Beach and spent numerous years there before being called back by the mountains.

Janice was the beloved mother of Deborah Browning (Gary), Frederick Tassitino (Becky) Michael Tassitino (Deanna), John Tassitino, and Theresa Forren (Jerry). Fifteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, three sisters and a brother (deceased).

Janice was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children, strong values that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Friends may gather with the family Monday, August 17, 2020 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley from 12pm - 2pm. Catholic Rite of Burial will follow at 2pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
