James Emerson Williams (Johnny), 78, of Shady Spring, WV, passed away at CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV, Saturday, August 13, 2017 following a short illness. Born on January 17, 1939 in Hinton, WV. He was the son of the late Edison Williams and Bonnie B. Kirkham. Johnny was a retired US Postal Carrier and a veteran of the US Army. He was a vivid hunter and outdoorsman. He attended Glen Morgan Missionary Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Church and resided in Shady Spring, WV. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister; Bonnie Jean Bird, his step-mother; Dorothy Williams, step-father; Cyrus D. Clark, and brother; J.D. Williams. Survivors left includes his wife Cheryl C. Williams who has cherished the last 54 years of marriage with him. Two daughters; Bonnie Flesher and husband Jeff of Urbana, IL and Jamie Wills of odd, WV, six sisters; Cora Sue and husband Kim Wadsworth of Milwaukie, OR, Cinda L. Pack of Windsor, VA, Lena and husband Ken Jakubec of Austintown, OH, Mary Brown and husband Tony of Statesville, NC, Janet Duffy and husband Randy, and Drema Smith, one brother; Jay Williams, three grandchildren; Kaley Poll, Sara Franklin, and Chris Cox, six great-grandchildren; Allison, Oliver, Julian, Clara, Justice, Lilly and a special grandson Austin Willis and wife Madison. Graveside service will take place on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 12:00 pm– 1:00pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family and Friends will serve as Pallbearers. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Beckley VA hospital. Pastor Ernie Moye will be presiding over the graveside rites.
