James Paul Morgan, Jr., 70, of Crab Orchard, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018. He was known by Jim, Jimmy, and JP, but most affectionately we remember him as our Husband, Dad, and Papaw. Jim was born on September 19, 1947 in Otsego, WV to the late James Paul and Mary Maxine Barker Morgan.
He loved to tell stories of his youth spent in Otsego. When he graduated from high school in Mullens, he went on to Morgantown to pursue a degree in Business at West Virginia University.
Jim was known in the banking industry as JP, worked as the Federal Bank Examiner, and spent many years working at Raleigh County National Bank, First Community Bank. He retired from First Peoples Bank of Mullens in 2012. He loved spending time on the golf course, usually with his life-long friend, Gary Parrish. He had a deep love for dogs, and could always be seen walking with his furry companions. He loved baseball – watching it on TV, going to a game, and even watching his boys play some years ago. But most of all, Jim loved his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving sister, Linda Phillips. He leaves behind the love of his life and wife for over 39 years, Linda Miller Morgan; three sons, Jason P. Morgan and his wife, Mandi of Beckley, Jeffery D. Morgan of Crab Orchard, and Rodney Soulsby and his wife, Lachelle of Okeechobee, FL; and his beloved grandchildren, Alexis, Harper, Elizabeth, Kinley and Caden. He will also be missed by his brother, Greg Morgan and his wife, Magda of St. Mary’s, GA. Also surviving is his father-in-law, Dan McGee and his wife, Allaine; two brothers-in-law, Jim Phillips and Robert Miller and his wife, Vicki; two sisters-in-law, Patty Damewood and her husband, Jimmy, and Brenda Harris; and a host of nieces and nephews.
