James E. Cook

Jim had a master's degree and was an engineer and surveyor. He was employed for a number of years as an instructor at West Virginia Institute of Technology. He also had his own business and was instrumental in the development of Glade Springs. He was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his wife Marcella Cook, son Jon R. Cook and wife Becky of Beckley, stepson Charles Lee Wiles of Richmond, VA, and stepdaughters Kathy Lasick of Baltimore MD, and Melissa Farley of Jacksonville, FL. Additional surviving family members include brothers Harold and wife Mary of Pittsburgh, PA, Ralph and wife Pat of of Dothan AL, Frank and wife Oraletta of Beckley, and sister Phyllis Murdock and husband, Ron of Beckley. He is also survived by three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lonnie Jr. Orville, Randall, Donald, and David Cook as well as sisters Eunice Cragett, Irma Keaton and Norma Acord.

Services will be held Monday, July 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Sears officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
