Herbert Dale Stover, age 93 of Harper passed away on January 30, 2020. Born July 31, 1926 in Sandlick, WV, he was the son of the late Morris Stover and Florence Peters Stover and the last surviving sibling in his family.
Mr. Stover was a World War II Veteran having served in the Pacific Theatre and is a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a 40-year employee of the Norfolk and Southern Railroad Company, a member of the Eccles Baptist Church and a devoted father and grandfather.
In addition his parents, Mr. Stover was preceded in death by his wife, Winnie Sarver Stover, one brother, and three sisters; and his son-in-law Richard Teague.
Those left to cherish Mr. Stover's memory include his son Herb Jr. Stover and his fiancé Shirley; daughter Rose (Wayne) Bennett; son Doug (Helen) Stover; son Roger (Kathy) Stover; son Donald (Angie) Stover; daughter Brenda Teague; and son Larry (Grace) Stover; 9 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice Nurses Paula and Brook.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 11 am - 1 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service honoring Mr. Stover's life will begin at 1 pm with Garry Hall officiating. Mr. Stover will be laid to rest with his sons serving as pallbearers following the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
