He was born July 3, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to his late parents Roscoe and Mildred Bailey.
Grant was a born-again believer and a faithful member of Lighthouse Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his beautiful, loving wife Linda Bailey, sister Barbara Shrewsbury and nephew Phillip Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory is son John (Deanne) Bailey; daughter Kimberley (Roy) Harrison; daughter Shawna Fendone; son Ramey Bailey; daughter Shelley (Lacy) Bethel; grandchildren Danielle Newman, Michael Bailey, John D. Bailey, Dalton Bethel, Shay Fendone and Hannah Harrison; brother Nick (Connie) Bailey; brother-in-law Baxter Shrewsbury; nieces, friends and church family who will miss him dearly.
Grant retired from Maple Meadow Mining where he was a certified electrician and a member of the mine rescue squad. He received many awards for his services during that time.
He loved being a Pawpaw and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, Danielle and Hannah, riding four-wheelers, fishing and hiking in the woods. Also, Grant loved the outdoors, going to the gym, taking his family on yearly vacations, but most of all he loved his family. He offered help when anyone needed it and could repair anything broken.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Larry Cochran and Assistant Pastor Fred Hart from Lighthouse Baptist Church. Mr. Cochran will lead with the reading of Grant’s obituary and his friend of many years Mr. Hart will conduct the service.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 3, 2021 from 4-7pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 11am. Grant will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following services.
