Glen A. Stover, age 84, of Sand Branch Rd., went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior at Bower’s Hospice House on Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Dorothy Stover, brother, Lloyd and wife Jewell, brother-in-law Jerry “Bogard” Thompson, brother-in-law Jerry Peck, special son-in-law Charles Lilly and granddaughter Krystal Gunnoe. Glen was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 as an aircraft mechanic. He was a hard-working electrician for Consolidated Coal, Rowland Division, at Workman’s Creek from 1968 until the operation closed. Glen was diagnosed with ALS in 1997 and continued to fight the disease for 23 years. Over the years, Glen was involved in various fundraising events for ALS research. He continued to be an inspiration to all that knew him. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and enjoyed dirt track racing with his family. Glen was very passionate about finding ginseng. In his later years, he enjoyed gardening and reading the Bible and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Sycamore Church.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Lana Stover, his 2 sons, Mark and wife Kelli, Chris and wife Tara, both of Beckley, 2 daughters Karen and husband Greg Castle of Tampa, Florida and Stephanie Stover at home. 5 grandchildren: Charles Andrew Lilly, Aaron and wife Hannah Lilly, Rebba and husband Gregory Stover, Michael Stover and Jacob Stover, along with 5 great-grandchildren: Braylon and Braxton Gunnoe, Layla Stover, Isabella Lilly and Everett Lilly. A sister, Rosalie Peck of Athens, WV and a brother Clarence Stover of Moulton, AL. and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Jerry Tyree.
Pall bearers will be Jerry Stover, Josh Darnell, Michael Stover, Jacob Stover, Greg Castle, Charles Andrew Lilly and Stephanie Stover.
Heartfelt gratitude to the Beckley VA Medical Center and Dr. Mathis, the staff of Home Based Primary Care for their many years of compassionate care.
