Retired Maple Meadow coal miner, Mountaineer enthusiast, and loving cornerstone of our family, George Wesley, passed away on October 22nd in Beckley, West Virginia. George was born in Glen Rogers, West Virginia. George raised two sons, Kenneth and Kevin Wesley. Through his years battling cancer, George continued to be an inspiration to us all with his determination, positivity, love, and sharp wit. George leaves us with heavy hearts, but we can rejoice in knowing his eternity with the Lord is peaceful and loving.
Beyond being the love of his life, his wife Karen Wesley, was his champion, soulmate, and best friend. They enjoyed numerous trips together: Yellowstone, Europe, Myrtle Beach, bus adventures with Aunt Sue, and their snowbird getaways to Florida.
George was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Harriet Wesley; his brother, Robert Wesley; his sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Herdman; his brother-in-law, Wallace York; his nephew Brian Keaton, and; his niece Kim Lane.
He is survived by his wife Karen, his children, Kenneth Wesley and wife Jennifer, Kevin Wesley and wife Katherine, his stepdaughter Leslie Miller and husband Chris, stepdaughter Kelli Hill and husband Shawn Hayes, and stepson Jeffrey Vass; his siblings, Doris Jean York, Sue Ellen, and Bill Ricciardi, sister-in-law Reba Wesley, Victoria and Mike Helton, brother-in-law Terry Herdman, brother-in-law Butch and Debbie Keaton, sister-in-law Sandra and Charles Lane, and numerous grandchildren: Klara, Kethany, and Kevin Wesley; Kaitlin Wesley and Sara Jeszenszky; Brooke, Parker, and Grant Miller; Sydney, Garrett, and Gavin Hill; Noah, Eli, and Jonah Vass, and; two great-grandchildren: Eva and Adeline Jeszenszky.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Friends may gather with the family from 10-12. Flowers may be sent to Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.
