He graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1959 where he was awarded all-state honors in football. He loved sports, and was an avid hunter. He spent many happy days hunting, and fishing at their camp with his son, Jeff. He was a great father and friend to his children, they loved him dearly.
He was a vested member of the Carpenters Union in Michigan. He worked many years in Ohio and Michigan as a carpenter. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He was a retired coal miner last working at Beckley Coal in Raleigh County, WV.
In addition to his parents, those preceding him in death are his wife of 19 years, Edith Olive Williams; sisters, Mabel Mikeal, Sylvia Nelson, Sibyl Walker and Jo Ann Lilly; brothers, Oran and Don Williams, his son – in-law Jackie Toney.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Jeffrey Olen Williams and wife Tammy of Strange Creek, WV; daughters, Cynthia Calloway and husband Bob of Glen Daniel, and Donna Toney of Radford, VA; first wife and mother of his children, Dorothy Wills; grandchildren, Olen Jeffrey Williams, Jimmy McVey, Charles Cowley and wife Wendy, Rachel Toler and husband Aaron, Sara Ratcliff and husband Adam, Jackie Toney USAF, Bradley Williams and Ryan Cowley; sisters, Maxine Petry, Sarah Taylor both of MI, Reba and her husband James Harris of Artie, WV; 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends; a very special cousin and friend, Tex Williams, who will deliver the eulogy.
Friends may gather with the family, Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 12-1pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1pm at the funeral home with Gary Maynor officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
