So many memories of Joan...She was a true lady in every way and we loved spending time with her. Even after we moved to Arizona we came back and visited Joan often spending nights with her. She and Burliegh  visited us in Fayetteville on their way to square dances. 
  She was one of Herb's favorite cousins. Sadly, Herb passed away February 2, 2023, from Mesothelioma.

Oh Joan,  it still hurts to realize that you are not with us here any longer.  I remember sharing so much time with you when we came back to West Virginia to visit after we had moved out west.  If Heaven needed another angel ............we understand......but we just weren't ready to let you go yet. We so enjoyed our visits with you from the Honey Baked ham sandwiches to the movies we watched downstairs all stretched out in comfort on the couches watching you fight with the remote. We laughed our silly heads off.  We also remember the visits you guys made to our house, the square dancing, and all the other things we managed to get into.  We know that Rick and Randy are also missing their mom today.  Watch over us from Heaven and know you are still loved.

My deepest sympathy Rick and Randy in the passing of your mother.  I had forgotten how they loved square dancing until I saw the photos.     I’m sure the memories started flowing in as you went through the photos picking out which ones you wanted to share.  Treasure those memories because they will give you all the comfort you need besides trusting in the Lord to get you through the tough days.  I also have fond memories you both of you boys.  Randy you were a freshman when I was a senior and if it wasn’t for you I would never have passed algebra.  And Rick we worked together for a while at Wharton #2 Supply House.   Again my condolences!

Dear Walker Family,
Your Mother & Grandmother, Elizabeth Joan Walker, whom I affectionately called "Noanie", was one of the most influential people in my life. To my brother, David, and I, Noanie was family, and has been a part of our life since my earliest childhood memories.  She was, as we described her to our friends, our "adopted grandmother".
Noanie is responsible for so many of my accomplishments.  She taught me an early love for music, and the importance of manners and education. She encouraged me to strive to be my best.   
I have so many fond memories with her growing up.  During piano lessons, she would get frustrated because I would memorize the music and watch my hands as we played. I recall standing on a stool in her kitchen, making biscuits and gravy during every visit, and having Snoballs as birthday cake each year.  
She somehow made everything a teaching moment, whether we were watching a cartoon, cooking or taking a walk outside. 
I was so thankful that I was able to visit her in the months and weeks prior to her passing.  I am ever so grateful she was there to play such a major role in my life.

So sorry to hear of our loss of Joan Walker. She was one in a million and went the distance to help anyone in need. She was a lady in every respect and a delight to spend time with. We spent quite a bit of time at her home when we were in WV and tried to keep in touch after we moved away. In fact, Herb talked to her a week ago. My grandpa always told us "when we lose someone we love, we gain an angel we know" and if anyone deserved angel wings,,,,,,it was Joan. Our prayers are with Connie, Randy, Ricky and the rest of the family.
