Della Mae Smith

Della was born on August 8, 1935 in Mabscott, WV to the late Homer Ward and Margaret Cain.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bobby Joe Smith who passed on April 16, 2022 after 66 years of marriage. Additionally she is also preceded by her brothers, Robert Ward, and Howard Ward, and sister Brenda (Ward) Winston. She is survived by one sister, Marie (Ward) Hope, and one brother Ray Ward.

Immediate family left to cherish her memory include her son Daniel (Traci) Smith, daughters, Frances Verleen (Ed) Grimsley, and Sandra Vance; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Della was a homemaker who raised her family, then went out in workforce for approximately 25 years. She retired from Elder Beerman, FKA Stone and Thomas.

Della was a born again Christian who previously attended Cranberry Baptist Church.

A public visitation will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home Beckley, WV. Friends may gather with the family from 12PM – 2PM with the funeral service starting at 2PM with Pastor Roger E. Pauley, Pastor of Cranberry Baptist Church officiating. Burial to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
