Della Phillips

Della Phillips died peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2019 when she was called home by her Lord at her home in Abney. She was born in Leckie, WV on December 18, 1924 to Lilburn L. and Polly Jane Johnson Osborne.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Phillips; sons, Timothy L. and Jerry D. Phillips; daughter, Polly G. Veach; two brothers, Homer and Kenneth Osborne; and two sisters, Martha Harold and Janice Martin.

She was a warm, loving woman of faith. Her life was a testimony to Christian living. She was a fine example of strength. She instilled strong family values, and was generous and loved by all that knew her. Mrs. Phillips loved birds and flowers and had a passion for gardening. She was a mother, a pastor’s wife, a pastor, a Sunday school teacher, a Deacon, and a faithful member of Cales Chapel in Coal City.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Wilma Blevins, Wanda Phillips and Brenda Mullins, all of the Abney Community; a son, Jonathan Phillips of Lorain, OH; a daughters-in-law, Carol Phillips of Independence, VA; brothers, Howard and Wayne Osborne of CA, and Lee Osborne of Abney Rd.; a sister, Joyce Stanley of Lorrain, OH; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm, Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Cales Chapel in Coal City. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm at Cales Chapel with Evangelist Steve Board officiating. Mrs. Phillips will be laid to rest beside her husband in Sunset Memorial Park.

Honoring Mrs. Phillips as pallbearers are Jonathan Phillips, Chuck Blevins, Kenneth Phillips, J. D. Phillips, Adam Davis and Jacob Phillips.
