Born on February 11th, 1929, he was the son of the late Lucian M. Legg and Agnes Hall Legg.
After completing high school, Daniel answered the call to serve his country by joining the U.S. Marines, of which he was a proud Korean War combat Veteran. After his service, Daniel spent his life as a heavy equipment operator, part-time salesperson, and truck driver.
By the influence of being raised by a Methodist circuit-riding preacher and a Godly mother, Daniel accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and spent most of his life preaching the Word, having been a Minister for over 60 years.
Affectionately known as Poppy by those who love him, Daniel spent his free time riding his Harley trike, taking naps in the sun, reading comics, going to McDonalds and Body Works, and flying with his brother Bob in his plane.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife Becky Legg; a daughter, Mary Lynn Legg; and all his brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish his memory include daughters, Ann Matics (Gary) of Bradley, Janie Dickens of Bradley, and Kelly Cline (Mark) of Lester; 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a countless number of friends.
Funeral services for Daniel will be held on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at 2PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Al Whitt officiating. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11AM. Daniel will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens following the service.
Mark Cline, Daniel Cook “Cookie”, Shane Dickens, Heath Lafferty, Brennan Cook, and Seth Dickens will serve as Pallbearers. Jim Bob Foster will serve as an honorary Pallbearer.
