Carol Aldine Taylor, 84, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, November 22, 2022 at Bowers Hospice House, in Prosperity, WV. She was born in Pence Springs, WV on December 28, 1937, the youngest of three daughters born to Theodore Roosevelt Cox and Harriet Aileen Campbell Cox. She spent most of her childhood in Whitby and Pemberton. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Beckley, WV in 1956.
She married Dennis Franklin Taylor December 6, 1957, and spent the next 55 years with him until his death in 2013. As an Air Force wife she traveled to Hawaii, Germany, and several continental states before returning to her beloved West Virginia to stay in 1993. Her husband’s active duty status required her to take care of the home, both inside and out, during his absences. She was the bestest mom ever.
She was a member of the Prosperity First Baptist Church, although she was unable to attend the past several years because of declining health.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Theda Cox Samples in 2021 and Ava Cox Hinkle in 2008.
She is survived by four children: Denise Goode (James); Dana Webster (Thomas); Theodore Taylor (Katherine); and Charles Taylor. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Alison Cozart Brown; Michael Goode (Christine); Nicholas Webster; Kathryn Webster; Brandon Taylor; Sarah Goode Lindsay (Spencer); Rebecca Taylor Rowe (Chris); Patricia Taylor Lafferty, and 16 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley on Tuesday November 29, 2022 at 11 AM with Pastor Mike Worley officiating.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Raleigh County Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice.
