Bonnie Sue Hornsby

Bonnie Sue Hornsby, 72, of Bradley, passed away at Bowers Hospice House on Monday, September 26, 2016. Born November 18, 1943, she was the daughter of the late William Ernest Sowder and Goldie Settle Sowder. Bonnie worked at Beckley Manufacturing and Appalachian Hospital as an LPN, before serving the family business at Henry’s Radiator Shop for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, going out to eat, visiting with numerous friends and family. Bonnie loved to plant and tend to her flowers, and especially cherished the time she shared with her daughter. She will be remembered by her ability to make people laugh, smile and all the generosity she has shown to countless people. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Hornsby; daughter, Debra Sue Hornsby; siblings, Harold Sowder, Sherman M. Sowder, Loraine L. Radford, Evelyn Lois Turner and Betty Kornke. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Henry Hornsby, Jr and wife Jill; grandchildren, Mary Kristen Price, John Pate Price, Henry Hornsby III and Madison Hornsby; siblings, James Sowder of West Chester, PA, Bob G. Sowder and wife Jan of Warrenton, VA, Charles Sowder and wife Jessie of Baltimore, MD, Geneva Coley of Oakhill, WV, Rosann Culley of Baltimore, MD; a very special niece considered by Bonnie as a sister to her, Leona “Jackie” Huffman and husband Wayne of Beckley, WV; brother-in-law, Bill Kornke of Kilmarnock, VA; sister-in-law, Joanna Sowder of MacArthur, WV and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may gather with the family Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6-9pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Bowyer officiating. The family asks that you share a special memory or funny story that you had with Bonnie. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
