On November 27, 2021, our gracious Lord called home his humble servant, Bobbie Lee Williams, following a short illness. She was surrounded by her devoted family at her home in MacArthur. Bobbie was 85. She was born January 28, 1936. Bobbie was the daughter of the late Lee and Hazel Eller of Sophia.
Bobbie graduated from Concord College with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She pursued and enjoyed a 36 -year teaching career. She loved her students at Sophia and Soak Creek Elementary Schools and shared with them her fondness of reading, creating a new generation of avid readers. Among the many pleasures Bobbie enjoyed were writing children’s stories for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren and rose gardening. She was a dedicated member of the Sophia Freewill Baptist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with church members and especially those in her Ladies Sunday School Class. She was also an active “sister” in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Cassity, and a sister, Arbutus Prunesti.
Those left to cherish her memory and life include her loving family: daughter, Patricia Hungate and her husband, Stephen, of Knoxville, TN; son, Freddie and his wife, Beth, of MacArthur; son, Ben Williams and his wife, Kim, of MacArthur; and daughter, Barbara Black and her husband, Donald, of Crab Orchard; grandchildren, Andy Hungate, Dr. Jennifer Black, Joey Hungate, Ben Williams IV, Dr. Jessica Black Allen, and Hannah Williams; six great grandchildren; sister, Patty Woodie and husband, James, of MacArthur; two brothers, Billy Eller and his wife, Terri , of Plant City, FL and Roger Eller and his wife, Faye, of Henrico, NC; along with extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate Bobbie Lee Williams’ life will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, WV with Pastor Robert Carter officiating. Following the service, Bobbie will be laid to rest at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with family from 12:00 pm Friday until the time of the service at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.
