Betty M. Kirby went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at the age of 99. She was born on February 11, 1920, in Pax, West Virginia, to her late parents Wirt F. and Cora (Hedrick) Maynor.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Robert W. Kirby Jr.; sister Margaret Greene; brothers William Maynor and Wirt F. Maynor Jr.; granddaughter, Kelli Ann Kirby; and son-in-law Michael Wilson. Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory; sons Robert W. (Chris) Kirby III, Stephen M. (Beverly) Kirby, and David P. (Sandy) Kirby, and daughter Kim Wilson; grandchildren Jennifer Kirby (Nate Ha), Jessica (Brian) Alexander, Robert W.Kirby IV, Matt (Michelle) Kirby, Todd (Beth) Kirby, Kandace (Brian) Duggan, Katie (Matt) Hale, Michael (Ashley) Wilson II, Nick Wilson, and Andrew Wilson; great-grandchildren Grace Kirby, Lily Kirby, Micah Kirby, Eli Kirby, Danny Alexander, Kirby Duggan, Vaughan Duggan, Banks Duggan, Asher Hale, Ainsley Joy Hale; her “sister” Beulah Whitt; close friends Patty Warner and Karey Counts; several nieces and nephews, and church family who will miss her dearly.
Betty has been a member of the Mullens United Methodist Church for over 70 years where she and her late husband Robert were married. Betty enjoyed traveling, quilting, baking, jigsaw puzzles, and collecting teddy bears and lighted houses. Most importantly, she loved the Christmas season and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank the nurses and assistants at ElmCroft Assisted Living in Teays Valley and Kanawha Hospice Care.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home from 11 am – 1 pm with a funeral service beginning at 1 pm. Entombment will follow services at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery where Betty will be laid to rest with her husband by pallbearers Matt Kirby, Todd Kirby, Michael T.
