Betty Sue Hatcher

Born on November 30, 1941, in Fitzpatrick, WV. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Lula Slocum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three sisters, Gladys Foley, Barbara Gail Kosanovich, and Shirley Missler. And a grandson, Christopher Hatcher.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Darrel Hatcher, her five children Robert (Matthews, NC) and companion Marcy Greene (Lenoir, NC), Steve & Lori (Beckley, WV), Jeff & Tracy (Lenoir, NC), Lisa & Jimmy Hess (Granite Falls, NC), Eric & Stephanie (Beckley, WV), her only brother, Dempsey Slocum (Maryland) and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a caregiver to many. She had many passions but her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Betty was always known for her contagious smile, her laughter, and her caring ways. She was the main thread that held her family together.

Services to celebrate her life will be held Monday, March 21, 2022, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, WV with Pastor Ron Hall officiating. Receiving of friends and family will begin at 1 pm followed by the funeral service at 2 pm. Following the services, Betty will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.
