Alvin Lewis Sturgill, 56 of Mabscott, went home to be with Lord on Monday, July 28, 2014. Alvin was born on October, 21, 1958 in Beckley, WV. He was the son of the late Roy Alvin and Ruth Marie Collins Sturgill.

Alvin worked at Beckley Walmart for over 20 years. He was a very loving father and grandfather. Alvin was friendly to everyone and always had a smile and laugh for anyone around him. He had many hobbies he loved and enjoyed; most of all cooking, painting, crocheting, and line dancing. His passing was peaceful at Raleigh General Hospital.

Those left to carry on his memory include his daughter, Loretta (Sturgill) Davis and husband, Brandon; his two beautiful grandchildren, Landon and Lilah Davis; siblings, Patricia Carol (Sturgill) Hampton and husband, Rex, Rose Marie (Sturgill) Shorter, Sandra Kay (Sturgill) Meador, and Roger Dale Sturgill and wife, Pam (Fox) Sturgill; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Pastor Brandon Hawley officiating.

Burial will follow at Sturgill Goode Cemetery.

Friends may gather with the family Saturday from 1 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
