Rey was born in Mauban, Philippines on December 26, 1933. He attended Far Eastern University in the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
In the 1960s, Rey started his US career in Guam as a Project Engineer/ Estimator for Black Construction Corporation. In 1982, Rey continued with E.E. Black Construction in Hawaii, ending his career with Hawaiian Rock Products.
Rey was a devoted husband, father, loving brother, and uncle to extended family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Josephine Abcede, son Raymond Abcede, daughters Maria Schaeffer, Gee Watson, sons-in-law Jon Schaeffer, Stephen Watson, two grandchildren, sister Adelaida del Banco, and sister-in-law Luz Abcede.
A Celebration of Rey’s life will be held on Friday, December 21, at St. Pius Catholic Church, starting with a rosary at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at 10 AM. A lunch reception at St. Pius Church Hall will be served thereafter.
Burial and final blessing will be held at 12:30 PM Friday, December 21, at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
