Rajen Singh Sidhu, born on July 5, 1979, in Vancouver BC, Canada lost his valorous battle with cancer on March 15th, 2025. At only 45, his family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death.
Rajen was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, friendship, mentorship, inspiration and encouragement. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Rajen is survived and missed by his daughter Mila, loving wife Martha, sister Jasmine, niece and nephew Aliyah and Jayden, brother-in-laws Chris and Peter, mother Shinder and father Guramit, and an amazing group of cousins and extended family who shared in his passion for life.
Rajen was born and raised in British Columbia, spending the majority of his youth in Surrey. He had a wonderful childhood surrounded by family and cousins. Rajen completed his engineering degree in Materials Science at UBC, where he met his wife Martha, and moved to Arizona to pursue his Ph.D. Martha subsequently followed him where they completed their degrees and started their careers. They spent 12 years in Arizona - buying their first home, making life-long friends, traveling the world, and getting a puppy, Zoe. Rajen yearned to be closer to his family in Canada and so the couple moved to Oregon where they made the 5 hour drive across the border often. From an early age he loved the game of basketball and carried the sport, its culture and its fashion through his entire adult life. Shoes and Nike were a big obsession for him - having untold pairs of worn and unworn sneakers across the house. His cousins and nephews were always looking forward to seeing what fresh gear he’d be wearing on his next visit. Rajen hated being the center of attention, and much preferred to celebrate others achievements and milestones. He was not shy to express his emotions and would constantly tell those around him how much he loved them, how proud he was of them and how special they were to him. The love of Rajen’s life was his daughter Mila. He wanted nothing more in this world than to be a father - and specifically - a father to a little girl. That day finally came in 2021 and Rajen’s heart was instantly captive. He was an amazing father and although their time together short-lived, he has already taught her the importance of family, the warmth of a loving embrace, and to live your life to the absolute fullest. Dance parties everyday and family hugs.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to the family and friends who came to see Rajen in the hospital ahead of his passing. Also a heartfelt thank you to OHSU Hospital (Ward 14C) for doing everything they could to try and find a path, and ultimately make his passing peaceful.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cancer Research Institute on Rajen’s behalf to continue the work needed to eradicate cancer from all our lives.
