Loving husband and father, Peter Papulski, passed away March 25th peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 79. Born to Alexander and Jeanne Papulski June 20th, 1940 in Three Rivers, Michigan, he joined older sister, Barbara, at home. At the age of 2 his family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon where he grew up. Growing up near the lake, he loved to swim and water ski, as well as run the neighborhood with a group of close friends. Peter excelled in sports, swimming for the MAC cub in Portland, and playing varsity football and basketball for Lake Oswego High.
After graduating in 1958, he attended the University of Oregon where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, and graduated with a Bachelors of History in 1962. Soon after he met Carolyn Hill and they were married in 1965. He soon went to work for Rockwell International, later to become Delta Machinery where he was a regional sales rep. selling woodworking tools and machinery. In 1968, he and Carolyn settled in Beaverton, Oregon where several years later they welcomed their first child, son Matthew, and few years later daughter, Lisa.
Peter had a love for activity, including hunting with family friends out of La Grande, skiing with his family on Mt. Hood, coaching his children’s youth sports, and taking a long awaited for family vacation to Alaska. He also travelled to Poland with his sister to investigate their father’s birthplace and heritage, and trips with Carolyn and friends to Egypt and Croatia. Later in life he spent many hours with old high school friend having lunch and coffee. It was one of the highlights of his week.
With his quick wit and outgoing personality, Peter was a friend to many and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn of Beaverton, Oregon, son Matt (Mary) of McMinnville, Oregon, daughter Lisa Boylan (Andy) of Napoléon, Ohio, in addition granddaughters Morgan, Lindsey, Alyx, Melissa, Molly, recent great granddaughter Harper, and sister Barbara Rohan of San Rafael, CA.
His family would like to thank all his friends for their support and kind words of remembrance during this unprecedented time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.
