Linda Marie Nelson, age 74 of Lake Oswego, Oregon passed away in her home on May 9, 2020. Born to Dorothy and William Wasson, and raised in Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, VA . She attended Hammond High School in Alexandria, VA and also went to nursing school. She moved to Oregon in 1965.
Linda attended PCC for two years and loved continually learning. She enjoyed cooking, music, dancing, theater (Lakewood Theater Patron for 40 years) and was an avid reader. The Oregon Coast, Sunriver and Maui, Hawaii were her favorite places to visit after retirement.
Linda was a lifelong friend to many and was a wonderful listener and a non judgmental person. She enjoyed talking with others about her political views and sharing the things she believed in. She donated to over 100 causes and was passionate about helping others.
Linda will be missed by her loving husband Rick of 22 years, her daughter Colleen (McGilvary) Pugh, son Patrick McGilvary and Karla, Rick’s son Caleb Nelson, daughter Amy (Nelson) Whiteley and husband Jason, and Grandchildren Spencer, Makayla, Calvin, Kellen, and Natalie.
She was blessed with a wonderful life with her devoted and loving husband and best friend Rick Nelson. Linda and Rick met in 1985 and after a 10 year engagement they were married November 1997 in the presence of their four children, close family and friends. Making their home in Lake Oswego for 30 years.
As a devoted mother she was always there for all of their children. She enjoyed hearing about their daily lives and families, supported their paths and aspirations in life and was a never ending ear to listen and guide. She always cared about them deeply and wanted the best in life for them.
Linda took immense joy and happiness in being a Grandmother to her five grandkids. She loved spending time with them, caring for them, seeing them grow into young adults and loving them unconditionally. Her Grandchildren will always remember the love she showed for them and all the events and activities she attended supporting them.
She was preceded in death by parents William and Dorothy Wasson, and Grandmother Mary Gile.
A Memorial and celebration of Linda’s life will be held in Fall , which was her favorite season.
