Passed Away April 1, 2020 due to complications from heart disease.
Imee was born Imelda Tuquero on March 16, 1947, a first born to the late Donato and Guillerma Tuquero in the Province of Tarlac in the Philippines. She graduated from Far Eastern University in Manila with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce at the early age of nineteen and earned a Certified Public Accountant certificate three years thereafter. Driven by her dreams for a better future for herself and her siblings, inspired by stories of success from relatives who lived in America, with guts and determination, she packed her bags and left for the USA in 1970. But left behind was a teary-eyed boyfriend, the one and only in her life, whom she could not bear to be away from on the other side of the globe. So she flew home a year later and came back bearing a different last name at the young age of 24. The luckiest guy’s name is Feliciano (Fil) Talain, and she became Imelda (Imee) Talain as we know her now. Their first born, Donna, joined them later in 1973, followed by Julie seven years later in 1980.
She held several jobs and positions in the accounting field in Manila, in the Bay Area, in New York, and in Portland where she took an early retirement at the young age of 52 from the City of Portland where she held a Payroll Manager title.
She retired young, she traveled, and she enjoyed life. She, along with her husband, traveled to Europe - London, Paris and other cities in between. Once, she joined her church’s celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles in Italy, with her family. She was a devout believer and follower in the United Church of God. The Philippines was her second home. Cruising was one of her passions, regrettably her husband didn’t know how to dance. They sailed to Alaska, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, Mexican Riviera, Panama Canal, and New England to Canada. She loved flowers and plants, arranging and showcasing them, being surrounded by them, taking in their beauty. She spent most of her time reading and studying the Bible, when she wasn’t shopping.
The joys of her life were her two grandsons, Ryan and Mason. She would have loved seeing them graduate, high school at the very least, but her dream was cut short. She loved them dearly.
Imee is survived by her loving husband, Fil, her two daughters, Donna and Julie, her two grandsons, Ryan and Mason, her seven brothers and sisters, her 14 nieces and nephews, and her 14 grandnieces and grandnephews. The love she had and the sacrifices she made for her whole family ensure that her legacy lives on in all of them. May she finally rest until we see her again.
