David Wayne Pugh, the son of Dayton and Evelyn Pugh was born on August 19, 1952, in Hillsboro, Oregon passed away on November 9, 2023. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Brother, and friend to many.
David was born in Hillsboro, OR and grew up in Forest Grove, LaGrande, and Imbler, OR. Throughout his childhood David had a deep love for playing sports, fishing, hunting, and listening to the church bells of his hometown. He later moved to Port Orchard, WA, and Sitka, AK, before spending most of his years in Vancouver, WA. While living in Sitka, David owned a boat and enjoyed boating and fishing the Alaskan waters. After retiring, he enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and the summer months in Washington.
David was known for his fun-loving and energetic personality. He had a smile that could light up a room and an infectious laugh that brought joy to those around him. He was a loyal friend and a supportive father and grandfather. David will be remembered for the positive impact he made in the lives of others.
Among his favorite things in life, David cherished his family and friends the most. He enjoyed and maintained close relationships with his four sisters. Some of his other favorite things in life were family gatherings, attending his grandchildren’s activities, cheering on his favorite football team the Seattle Seahawks and his beloved Weiner Dog Bogie. He enjoyed indulging in his daughters’ homemade clam dip on family board game nights. He also enjoyed visiting the hot springs in Carson and treasured his trips to San Carlos in Mexico. He loved to cook his famous fried rice, which he lovingly served to his family and friends.
During the early years of David’s career, he owned a roofing company and worked as a route driver. Most of his employment years were split between working as a Piledriver through the Piledrivers Union and a Conductor for BNSF Railroad and finally during his retirement years as an Uber Driver. He was a member of the Moose and Elk Lodge, actively contributing to his community.
Outside of work, David had a passion for golf and was especially proud of his hole-in-one on a par 3. During his time at Imbler High School, he was a competitive athlete who excelled and lettered in every sport they offered. While living in Vancouver and Sitka he played city league basketball and baseball and was a team member of a bowling league. David was always involved in his daughters’ organized sports and coached several of their teams. He was also an avid reader, always seeking knowledge and inspiration. Most of all, David loved spending quality time with his grandchildren and cherished family dinner nights.
David is survived by his four sisters Ann Earle of Beaverton OR, Linda Hoffman of Yakima, WA, Karen Simmons of Weiser, ID and Tina Wagoner of Pendleton OR. He is also survived and dearly missed by his three Daughters; Denise O'Reilly of Union OR, Renee Pugh of Vancouver, WA, and Shannon Harms of Vancouver WA; his two grandchildren Hailee Reuber of Vancouver, WA, Stone Harms of Vancouver, WA; as well has his friend and ex-wife of many years Lorna Hardister of Sonoma, CA. David also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.
David Wayne Pugh will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit and the positive impact he made in the lives of others will forever be remembered.
In his honor, we will be having an Open House Celebration of his Life on Saturday April 13th, 2024 from 12:00pm-5:00pm. We will have light snacks and drinks.
