Carolyn Lea Huber was born Aug. 29, 1944 in Chehalis, WA to Don and Mary (Neu) Middaugh, and passed away in Portland, OR on Feb. 12, 2014, age 69. Carolyn graduated from high school in Chehalis, and in September 1963 married Michael Huber at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. They moved to Oregon that year and started their family. Carolyn worked as a homemaker, raising her five children, then later attained a R.N. degree from PCC-Sylvania in 1996, earning a Med-Surg certificate four years later. She worked as a nurse at Maryville Nursing Home and then in Med-Surg at OHSU for ten years. The quality of her care as a nurse was greatly valued, with patient and employer evaluations over the years reflecting how much she was respected. Before her career, Carolyn enjoyed household sewing. She loved to read (biographies, medical topics, and anything about Ireland), and collected Belleek figures. She and Michael celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 2013, and they fulfilled a lifelong dream of Carolyn’s by visiting Ireland, her ancestral home on her mother’s side. She and Michael were active volunteers at their church, participating in fundraisers, P.T.A. organizing, and the Cub Scouts. Above all, Mrs. Huber will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Michael Huber of Beaverton;
five children, Mark Huber and wife Deanne of Tampa, FL and their daughter Kimberly,
Gregory Huber of Cleveland, OH, David Huber and wife Kristen of Tigard and their children Katie, Ben, and Joey, Cherie Huber of Beaverton, and Michael Huber of Beaverton;
and by three sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to the Providence Brain and Spinal Institute.
