William grew up in El Campo, TX, the eldest of six siblings. He finished his education and received a GED in the U.S Navy. He then met and married the love of his life Joyce in 1952 and been married for 68 years. Together they raised one daughter, Pamela. William worked as a Field Superintendent for Texas Gulf Sulfur until his retirement. He was known to be a hard worker and someone who can fix just about anything except electrical. He was an avid gun collector and deer hunter and would often take his daughter Pam with him. He enjoyed fishing, western movies and was a devout Catholic. But, William would best be known for his kind nature who would do anything for everyone.
William is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dewey Labay, and twin sister Willie Spurny.
William is survived by his wife Joyce; daughter Pamela; brothers Luis G. Labay and Glenn Labay; sister Joan Yates; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held February 12, 2021 at 9:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held February 12, 2021 at 10:00 am at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial to follow.
Serving as pallbearers are Layne Henderson, Joe Broussard, Jerry Peveto, Jimbo Dunagan, Clint Everage, and Derek Cook, with Thad Cook serving as an honorary pallbearer.
