Virginia raised her family here in the Golden Triangle, spending the majority of her life in Lumberton. She was a a woman of faith and read her bible every day. She loved reading and kept a journal of every everything she read, but was quick to put it down if she found a "word" in it. She also enjoyed sudoku puzzles. It was important to Virginia that you be dressed in clean and crisp clothes, even if you where going to be home all day.
Virginia enjoyed fishing, and would always out fish everyone with her, including her husband Paul. She and Paul would spend time outside in the garden, both flowers and vegetables, and they would can whatever was grown. She was an amazing cook, pan frying the fish they caught, or preparing her famous chicken fried steak with brown gravy.
Virginia loved being a part of her family life, whether it was raising her own children or spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Virginia is survived by her son Jerry Sims and wife Julie; her daughter Sherri Martin and husband Randy; and her daughter Paula Griffin and husband Larry; her brother Howard Catlett and wife Peggy; and her sister Sue Casper;. She also leaves 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Paul Sims; her father Troy Catlett; her mother Annie Catlett; her brother Bill Catlett, and her sister Betty Commander.
Virginia will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine St, Beaumont, TX 77703-1223.
