Born in Beaumont, Texas, on September 30, 1949, Virgil was the son of the late Kessler Virgil Pearl and Dorothy Mildred (Henderson) Pearl. A natural tinkerer and problem solver, Virgil earned the nickname “Mr. Fix It” during his working years—there was little he couldn’t repair. Beyond his skills, he will be remembered most for his generous heart, his sense of humor, and the love he poured into his family.
On February 1, 1970, Virgil married the love of his life, Jacalyn Elizabeth (Ayers) Pearl. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years, raising a family and building a life rooted in love, laughter, and strong values. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed hobbies like golf, working with his hands, and being surrounded by those he loved. One of his favorite things in life was inviting friends and family to gather at his home to entertain on any and every occasion.
Virgil is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Tracey Elizabeth Pearl; his parents; his sister, Geneva Ann (Pearl) Harris; and his brother, Keith Ray Pearl.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Jackie Pearl; children, Trevor Allen Hendry and Stacey Leanne (Pearl) Scalf and husband Aaron; grandchildren, Trevor Allen Hendry II, Dorian Hendry, Tristan Scalf and wife Emmalee, and Ashton (Scalf) Whitmer and husband Shane; great-grandchildren, Granger and Riggin Scalf, Sterling and Ares Whitmer; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Known lovingly as “Poppi,” Virgil was a proud and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy lives on through the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing him.
