He was born on May 1, 1950, in Beaumont, TX. to Sam Peter Fertitta and Dora Serio Fertitta, also of Beaumont, TX. He was a graduate of South Park High School in Beaumont, TX. and earned two degrees at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX.
Vincent married Linda in 1976, becoming an instant father of two: Christy Estep and Christopher Penry and together had two children: Dawn Fertitta and Vincetta Fertitta.
Vincent briefly worked for NASA Johnson Space Center, where he had the privilege of contributing to the ALT shuttle launch. Most of his career, 35 years, was spent at Southwestern Bell in various roles. Along with his successful working career, anyone who knew Vincent knew that his greatest passion in life was being a husband and a dad. From making school lunches and animal shaped pancakes to goodnight kisses, the focus on his family was unwavering.
He was an insatiable joker with a generous spirit, a strong faith, an open, adventurous heart, and a love for all Elvis Presley music.
Most knew him as Vince, but a select few of us knew him as Husband, Daddy, Pawpaw and Brother. But all of us will forever know him as brave, courageous and a fighter of Kidney Disease and Myasthenia Gravis. In 2019, he began the fight of his life and although he knew the fight was an impossible one, he tackled it with his strength and a smile, so we never knew the depth of his struggle. Let his infectious smile and endless jokes be a symbol of hope and strength.
Vincent is preceded in death by his parents, Sam Peter Fertitta and Dora Serio Fertitta and his infant brother, Sam Joseph Fertitta. He is survived by his wife, Linda Fertitta of Pearland, TX; daughter Christy Estep (Howard) of Austin, TX, Christopher Penry of Pearland, TX, Dawn Fertitta of Pearland, TX and Vincetta Fertitta (Alicia) of Lakewood, OH; grandchildren Emma Koteras, Ethan Estep, Gabriel Vincent Fertitta, Mason Fertitta-Farrell and Amelia Fertitta-Farrell; two honorary grandchildren Brandon and Blake Shifflet; two sisters Josephine Ann Fertitta Costa of Beaumont, Texas and Jennie Marie Fertitta Beebe of Beaumont, Texas and extended family members.
A Visitation for Vince will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, with a Rosary at 6:00 PM.
