Dudley was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 23rd, 1937, to Ual Aubrey Williams and Margaret Virginia Stubblefield. He graduated from French High School in 1956, after which he enlisted in the U.S. Army and continued in the Army reserves for eight years, serving as a Sergeant (E-5). Dudley went on to become a journeyman electrician after completing his apprenticeship. He was a loyal member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 59 years. Dudley married Norma Jean Venable on August 14th, 1997, until her passing in 2013.
During his lifetime, his favorite hobbies were fishing, backyard gardening, and woodworking. He especially enjoyed his woodworking, making special gifts for his family. He was always interested in vintage automobiles and enjoyed viewing restored classic vehicles. A special and personal devotion of his was to the Wounded Warriors Project, to whom he made regular donations.
Dudley is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Williams, his father Ual Aubrey Williams, his mother Margaret Virginia Williams, his son-in-law, Lee Grantz, and his very special and beloved niece, Heather Bradberry-Pannell.
He is survived by his sister, Virginia Gayle Burrier and her husband Stan of Martindale, Texas; children, April Darlene Reed and husband Ed of Angleton, Texas, Regina Lynelle Griffin and husband Todd of Lumberton, Texas, and Richard Aubrey Williams of Gyumri, Armenia; step-children, Terri Grantz of Lumberton, Texas, George and Cheryl Spears of Lumberton, Texas, Eric "Ricky" and Peggy Sue Spears of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Stacey and Lonnie Courts of Conroe, Texas. Dudley was also blessed with and survived by his grandchildren, Laura Ann Reed and John Allen Reed of Angleton, Texas, Matthew Whisenhant of Kountze, Texas, and Mark Whisenhant of Lumberton, Texas, and three beautiful young great-grandchildren, Tyler, Riley, and Gene Whisenhant, as well as many other family and friends who enjoyed his quick sense of humor and strong principles.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, December 4th, 2023 from 5pm to 8pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas. A celebration of Dudley's life will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Pastor Philip Weatherford of Praise Church presiding. Dudley will be laid to rest immediately following the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Hope.
A gift of flowers is always appreciated; however a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project would also be appreciated for those who so choose. The family of Ual Dudley Williams especially wishes to thank Dudley's steadfast friend and cousin, Donald LaCour; his longtime friend Curtis Dees; his extended family; and all his devoted caregivers at Collier Park Assisted Living Center of Beaumont, Texas and Gentiva Hospice who showed him special kindness and attention, and all of those who made his life richer and fuller.
Dudley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all. We love you, Daddy!
