Tom was born on January 18th, 1946, in Parkersburg West Virginia to Clarence and Helen Jones. Soon after the birth of their son his parents moved to Little Rock Arkansas where he would call home for the next eighteen years. He grew up like most boys in small town America with a love for the outdoors. No matter if he was playing baseball or at the swimming pool with friends, he loved being outside. That love turned into curiosity of how things work. Often when he was not satisfied with the answers to his questions, he would research things on his own. His drive and thirst for knowledge would be tested as he was accepted to Georgia Tech, where he obtained his baccalaureate degree in chemical engineering. Upon leaving his alma mater he enlisted in the army, where he served his country for two years.
His return to civilian life found him in Texas, where he worked for Mobil for 38 years. Along the way, he met the love of his life, Barbara, who blessed him with two children, Allison and Andrew. Both of whom have put their own roots down in southeast Texas. Tom is survived by his wife Barbara, brother-in-law Robert and his two children Allison and Andrew along with their spouses Tanner and Heena, and his grandchildren Aiden, Alisha, Connor and Grant. He was a compassionate father, a devout husband and a true intellect! He may be gone but he will never be forgotten.
We will celebrate his life with a graveside military services at held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont Friday September 8th, 2023, at 10am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wesley Methodist Church of Beaumont or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.forestlawnmpfh.com for the Jones family.
