Robert John McLendon Sr.

Bob was born in Beaumont, Texas to John and Maxine on March 15, 1939, and he spent the majority of his life in Southeast Texas. He joined the U.S. Navy, and was very proud to have served his country.

He married Linda Billeaudeaux in 1979, and they were happily married for 43 years. Bob loved God and his family above all else.

Bob raised his family well and taught them the meaning of hard work. He and his family built a home they lived in from the ground up in Lumberton, TX. He worked a hard job in the oilfields to provide for his family and then built a very successful business of his own called McLendon Enterprises. In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, raising animals, watching old westerns, and volunteering to help others. He was very proud of his work with the children in the Special Olympics and the Knights of Columbus, but in reality he helped so many others in small ways expecting no recognition. He was a man of faith and attended Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton, Texas.

Bob was preceded in death by his father John McLendon and his mother Maxine Luce; his son Robert John McLendon, Jr., and his grandson Patric Allen.

Those left behind to carry on his memory are, his wife, Linda McLendon; his sons, Douglas McLendon and his wife Miranda of Kountze, Texas, Mark Chase and his wife Connie of Lumberton, Texas; his daughters, Loretta Hebert and her husband Eddie of Nederland, Texas, Kim Horton and her husband Chris of Pearland, Texas; his brothers, Billy Walcott of Lumberton, Texas, Frank McLendon and his wife Paula of Sour Lake, Texas, Eddie Coon of Orange, Texas, Rick Coon and his wife Bonnie of Vidor, Texas, his sisters, Eva Cudd of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Lori Masters of Keller, Texas, Ida Glover of Grand Prairie, Texas; his grandchildren, Robert McLendon III, Carlie McLendon, Dakota McLendon, Steven Salyers, Natalee Chase, Brooke Horton, Teri Phillips and her husband Chris and his great-grandsons Hunter Phillips, Caden Phillips.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the chapel at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, and a Rosary prayer service will occur that same night at 6:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Infant Jesus Catholic Church, 243 S Lhs Dr., Lumberton, TX 77657.

Bob will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4950 Pine, Beaumont, Texas 77703; Garden of Eternity.

Serving as pallbearers are Rick Coon, Mark Chase, Doug McLendon, Chris Horton, Chris Phillips, Dr. Josh Allen, Steven Salyers, Mike McCulley; honorary pallbearer, Caden Phillips.
