Robert Bruce "Bob" Holbrook, 89, of Lumberton passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at his residence. A native of Quincy, MA., Bob has lived in Lumberton for 10 years, and was a retired pharmaceutical representative with Pennwalt Pharmaceutical Corp.
Bob proudly served his country during the Korean War, and later retired from The United States Navy after 20 years of honorable service to his country. Bob continued to honor his military service, by being an active member of the Southeast Texas Veteran's Group where he took great honor in providing honors to his fallen comrades in arms. Bob was a longtime and very active member of the Masonic Lodge #286 in Beaumont. Bob was a longtime member of North End Baptist Church in Beaumont, and loved his duties as door greeter. Bob enjoyed many different hobbies that included, fishing, working out at the gym, leatherwork, drawing, reading, traveling, going to the beach, antiquing, and woodworking. Bob was known for his kind heart and helping hand.
Bob's Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 12, 2020, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Joy Holbrook, daughters, Joyce Holbrook-Cooper of San Antonio, Elizabeth Holbrook Croley and husband John of Plano, TX., sister Liz Holbrook-Dicenzo, brother Danny Kamppila, three grandchildren, Keith Day, Crystal Gregg, and Paige Lewis, and five great grandchildren, Andrew Mulholland, Gabi Mulholland, Ayanna Mulholland, Keiten Day, and Jarren Day. Robert will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Garfield and Sarah Holbrook, brothers, Luke Holbrook, Garfield Holbrook, Edward Holbrook, Dean Holbrook, and Dickie Holbrook, sisters Shirley Purpura, and Sondra (Holbrook) Savageau.
