Raymond Gutierrez, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, father-in-law, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024 at the age of 90 in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was born on December 25, 1933 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Mariano and Paula Gutierrez.

After graduation, Raymond proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged. In 1956 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church in Beaumont, Texas Raymond married the love of his life, Mary. Raymond and Mary made their home in Rose City, Texas. Raymond and Mary were blessed with 3 loving sons, whom he is survived by, Juan Gutierrez and his wife Sheree’ LeBlanc Gutierrez, Jaime Gutierrez and his wife Lori Ann Jordan Gutierrez and Jesus Gutierrez and his wife Jaime Howard Gutierrez. Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren, Ashlea Ann Gutierrez-McKinney, Jaime Dean Gutierrez, 8 extended grandchildren and 12 extended great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Gutierrez.
Raymond was a loving husband and father who never missed a football game or band event. Raymond was also the boys’ baseball coach from pee-wee through minor league. When the boys were older, there wasn’t a practice, game or band event he didn’t attend. Johnny fondly recalls a football game where it was very cold and raining and the only parent in the stands, with his raincoat and umbrella was Raymond. Johnny can remember saying, gosh, my Dad really loves me, he is the only parent in the stands. Johnny also recalls when he would run around interstate 10 getting in shape for football and where was Raymond, running with him and keeping up. Raymond was always there for his boys.
Raymond raised his boys to always say, yes ma’am, no ma’am, open the door for ladies, your elders, you name it, Raymond instilled in his boys the proper manners, which they haven’t forgotten to this day. Raymond was a family man. With 10 brothers and sisters, you end up with a lot of nieces and nephews. Many fondly recall Raymond and Mary always either attending or sending gifts for their special days, graduations, marriages or births of children, Raymonds’ great nieces and nephews.
Raymond retired from the grocery store industry where he worked at Weingarden and Price Low.
Raymond was a kind-hearted person, mild-mannered, quiet and always picking at you. He was loved by many and everyone always had a loving comment to say about Raymond. He will be greatly missed by many, but we take comfort in knowing he is with the love of his life Mary and those family members that have gone before him.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4955 Pine street, Beaumont, Texas 77703, followed by a Celebration of Raymond’s Life at 2pm in the chapel.
